Trendy Maternity Clothes Archives

image thumb How to Wear Plus Size Maternity Clothes the Stylish WayBeing pregnant means losing your lovely figure for a short time. But that doesn't mean you can't be stylish! You can still make some great fashion sense even if your tummy gets bigger and bigger every month. Here are a few tips that fashion designers recommend to women who are going to wear plus size maternity clothes.

1. Ignore those oversized plus size maternity outfits.

These days, many plus size maternity outfits are made of stretchable materials such as lycra and rayon. These clothes are comfortable to wear because they give some allowance when your tummy becomes bigger while still hugging your body's contours. Avoid buying oversized maternity clothes make you uncomfortable.

2. Look for comfort and right fitting.

Don't buy a plus size maternity outfit just because it fits you well. Consider its comfort. Do you feel good wearing a particular plus size maternity clothing? Make sure you're comfortable with your chosen plus size maternity clothes before buying them.

3. Get some new lingerie items.

Your body undergoes several changes during your pregnancy, and your lingerie should be kept updated to adjust to the changes. Buy new bras, preferably those that are a cup size higher than your current size. Having a new set of bras can make your plus size maternity dresses fit your body and look better.

4. Buy maternity clothes at the right pace.

In your entire pregnancy, buying plus size maternity outfits is an ongoing task. Most women need plus size clothes at the end of the first trimester of their pregnancy. Others may need to purchase bigger sizes in regular clothes before that period. Be ready to purchase new oversized maternity clothes toward the end of your pregnancy, if needed. This is because the maternity clothes you have bought for your fourth to sixth months might not fit you until your due date.

5. Shop for a new set of clothes after you've given birth.

After pregnancy, most women find it hard to get out of the plus size problem because of pregnancy weight gain. At this stage, you will realize that it's not easy to wear your normal, non-maternity clothes.

Trying so hard to fit into your old shirts and jeans will only frustrate you. To avoid that, get some new and comfortable clothes that you will wear during the transition period after you've given birth.

Why are maternity clothes so dowdy?

I'm so tired of looking at dowdy, ugly, out dated maternity clothes. Not every mother-to-be is 35, ya know! I'm a little more youthful than that, and I would like to have clothing that would make me feel at least a little bit sexy while I'm pregnant, because my self esteem will plummet with my growing booty. But alas retailers couldn't give a rats a*s. And the maternity clothes that are at least a little bit trendy cost waaaay too much money...I'm not going to pay $80 and up for a shirt that will get worn for maybe a month! Terrible stuff!

I have had the most luck with Old Navy, some really cute stuff.

In the first three to four months of pregnancy, most women can still fit into their regular clothes. However, as time goes by, bigger bust size and waistline make maternity clothes a must-have for pregnant women. Most of them forget about fashion as they fit themselves into shapeless, boring, and sometimes oversized dresses.

Being an expectant mom should not stop you from being trendy and fashionable. Hiding your big tummy is definitely not fashionable. Did you know that it is chic to be pregnant these days? Just take a look at young Hollywood stars today they are proud of their condition and are still glowing and stylish before they give birth. The fad now is to show off your tummy rather than to hide it underneath your clothes. Well, you don't have to do that exactly. Just letting your curves show is a trend in maternity wear.

How can you look trendy when you're pregnant? Here are some suggestions:

    1. Wear your jeans. Who says you can't wear denim when you're pregnant? Some denims are designed to highlight the beautiful curves of pregnant women. You can wear your maternity jeans embroidered, low-slung, and with contrasting washes.
    2. Go for the Hippie style. Look stylish in free-flowing yoke dresses, ethnic skirts, or kaftans that allow some space for an expanding tummy.
    3. Try baby-doll and empire-cut dresses that you can wear with maternity jeans or pants. Pregnant women may also look great wearing patterned blouses or airy tunics underneath cardigans or sweaters. Accessorize them with a wide belt under the belly for a trendier effect.
    4. Don't be afraid to wear suits. There are maternity suits that can be multifunctional: they can be easily switched from day to night. Dress the suits down with a shirt during the day or with a tunic or silk blouse during the night. For many pregnant women, menswear pinstripes and plaids look charming. Maternity suits made of cotton and wool, when worn with chiffon and charmeuse blouses, look charming on pregnant women as well.
    5. Choose the right size. A stylish maternity dress may not look good on you if it doesn't fit you. A maternity outfit is too big for you if you can stick two fingers between the fabric and the waistline. It will still be too big for you even if your belly grows.
    6. Wear accessories that draw attention to your bust line and shoulders. Bolero jackets, capelets, and scarves in contrasting colours can perfectly achieve that purpose. Since the neck and arms stay the same throughout pregnancy, halter tops can also be flattering for pregnant women.

My husband and I are expecting our first baby about six months from now. We are overjoyed at the prospect of becoming parents, and are in the process of getting ready for the major changes that lie ahead. For example, we're already trying to rework our budget to see if we can survive on one income and we're turning the spare bedroom into a nursery. I'm also getting ready for the physical changes that are sure to come. As shallow as this may sound, I'm particularly worried about weight gain, so I'm going to do everything possible to prevent ballooning up too much. I plan on eating healthy foods and buying some maternity workout clothes so I can exercise regularly.

Prior to getting pregnant, I followed a pretty good fitness regimen. I hope that because I'm already used to this kind of activity, it won't take much for me to stay in shape now. I'm going to check out some exercises that are safe for expectant mothers to do and I will probably sign up for some special fitness classes for pregnant women. If I have comfortable maternity workout clothes to wear, I should be able to get some exercise in on a daily basis, either at home or at the gym. Combine that with eating right, and hopefully I can keep my weight gain to a reasonable 25 pounds or so.

I plan on shopping for maternity workout clothes very soon. I usually buy clothing online these days because it's just far more convenient (and often a lot cheaper) to do so, but I think this time I'll head to the mall. I need to make sure my maternity workout clothes fit right. Obviously if they're too loose or too tight, I'll have trouble performing the required yoga or Pilates moves or whatever. And thanks to my expanding waistline, I'm not even sure what size I am now. So the safest option is to go in, try some things on, and make my purchases from there.

I'll probably have to buy several sets of maternity workout clothes before all is said and done. That's to be expected, as there's a major difference between what I look like in my first trimester and what I'll look like in the third. I want to keep exercising for as long as I can (even up to the due date if my doctor says it's OK), so that means buying maternity workout clothes in bigger sizes as the months go on.

As I said, we couldn't be more thrilled about the exciting events that are just around the corner. I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure I deliver a healthy baby. That means making smart choices in the kitchen and taking care of my body by working out regularly and safely. I can't believe my whole life is going to change so drastically just six short months from now!
