Why are there two kinds of maternity clothes? Very expensive, and very ugly?

I'm not a teenager, I graduated from college already, but I can't seem to find stylish clothing that don't look like they should be worn by someone 40+.

I'm tall, that makes it hard too! I feel like I've got such nice curves, why do I want to hide them behind clothing that was made by the same person who designed hefty trash bags???

Has anyone found decently priced maternity clothing that aren't ugly, or expensive [or look like a pregnant 15 year old would wear them lol]

Okay I totally disagree with all the comments. Yes I own a maternity boutique www.bumpfashion.com, but I also had three kids before I bought it and the stuff from old navy, target and motherhood either last till you wash it, stretches out and looks cheap and frumpy by the end of the day or is just nasty. Liz Lange at Target has some great pieces, but she sold out. She sold her name and the design which means the stuff will not be as good and will not be around long term. Now is the best time to find deals at good maternity boutiques online because the spring stuff in coming and everyone is blowing out their fall clothing. Check my site then look for inexpensive GOOD lines such as Olian, Momzee and Maternal America.

All of the maternity clothes I can find are either really ugly or designer and super expensive! I just want some cute stuff for reasonable prices since i won't ever be able to wear them again!

Three things I've learned: if it says baby, maternity, or wedding, it's going to be expensive. Motherhood Maternity has some cute stuff, but you're right, it can get pretty spendy. I bought two pairs of slacks for work on sale. If there are any maternity consignment shops in your area, you can always try those.

Personally, when I was pregnant, long, empire-waisted tunics were in style. I bought a TON of those, since they were cheaper and I didn't have to go to a special store. I also bought a lot of stretchy leggings.

You can get maternity lots on eBay, for pretty cheap. I bought one lot so I could mix and match for my office and during the weekends.

One last thing, if you have any friends or family members who still have some old clothes, don't be afraid to ask! They can be a great resource and will probably give it to you free or for dirt cheap.

I have my nephews Bar Mitzvah, and a cousins Wedding, in the next few months, both of whom are religious jews, (as am I) finding it really hard to get modest maternity clothes, which are trendy and modern, all the maternity modest websites i have seen look like they are made for grandma's!

I dont mind shopping online if anyone knows any good websites! im just looking for something cute that wont make me look like im trying to look older. im 19 and proud to be pregnant i just wanna look my age still. I really like the clothes that are in the movie "knocked up" but cant seem to find anything like them!

Old navy has tons of cute maternity clothes.. and they are really cheap as well.. also im not sure where you are in the world.. but thyme maternity if you have one has really really nice clothes a bit more pricey though. but check out old navy they are the best.. goodluck
